New Hysterectomy Procedure (LSH)

If you are a candidate for a hysterectomy and you don't want to spend several days in the hospital, miss 4-6 weeks of work and suffer with pain after surgery, you may want to consider this new surgical procedure.

The LSH is a laparoscopic hysterectomy performed entirely through the belly button. There is no large abdominal incision; this procedure reduces pain, amount of time in surgery (procedure time is approximately 1 hour) and length of stay in the hospital. Most people are home within 24 hours and back to work or their normal schedule within 7 days. This procedure can also preserve the cervix, tubes and ovaries. It only removes the part of the uterus that hurts and bleeds.

In the Brazos Valley area, Dr. Benson has the most experience performing this procedure.
