Endometrial ablation is an outpatient procedure for women with excessive bleeding who do not want a hysterectomy. This is a safe, simple alternative to hysterectomy. The endometrial ablation procedure makes the lining of the uterus ineffective and unable to bleed any longer.

This procedure takes about 10 minutes to perform, and the patient is usually in the hospital about 4 hours. Patients may return to work and sexual activity in 1 day.
