Frequently Asked Questions

Is laser therapy safe?
Yes. Laser therapy is non-invasive and drug-free. It has been widely used internationally for over 30 years. The Omega X/P Laser used by Benson Laser Technologies is a low-level laser. Because of the low power nature of low level laser therapy, the effects are biochemical and not thermal; therefore, the laser cannot cause heating and thereby damage to living tissue.

What parts of the body receives laser?
The Omega X/P Laser is applied to specific energy points on the arms, hands, face, and ears that are associated with nicotine addiction.

Is laser therapy covered by medical insurance?
Laser Therapy for smoking cessation is not eligible for health insurance coverage at this time.

However, the
cost of Benson Laser Technologies’ program is $300, less than 1/3 of a typical smoker's $1,500 annual expenditure on one pack of cigarettes per day.

How many therapy sessions will I need?
Depending upon your desired outcome, one to six sessions are usually needed.

Are there any health or medical conditions that would prevent me from participating in laser therapy?
If you have cancer, or epilepsy, are pregnant or use a pacemaker, laser therapy should not be used.

Is it guaranteed?
Low-level laser therapy works by helping patients cope with physical urges and cravings. The therapy will aid in the change of habit, but it will not keep the patient from picking up a cigarette. Each patient has a unique addiction level, so laser therapy cannot be guaranteed. Benson Laser Technologies works personally with each patient to assist them in achieving their goals.
